Why We Give

Giving our tithes and offerings reflects a grateful heart that wants to give back to God a portion of what He has given us; which ultimately belongs to Him. Because we are not called to be consumers only, giving serves as our opportunity to show God that He is first in our lives while furthering the work of the local church as well. We believe giving to be an act of worship.

Giving is a Direct Reflection of the Heart:

The Father’s heart is a giving one. Through the giving of His Son, Jesus Christ, God lavishly dispenses His grace and love upon His children.  Our God is a giver and we are blessed to be receivers.  Therefore, the natural response for His children is to be givers as well. And while it is an all encompassing lifestyle, it does and should include the giving of the money and resources that we are blessed to have pass through our hands believing that it serves a purpose greater than to serve ourselves only.

Giving is a Privilege:

The early church served as a model for us what it means to give generously and cheerfully while advancing the Kingdom of God.

2 Corinthians 8:2-4  –  “Out of the most severe trial, their overflowing joy and their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity. For I testify that they gave as much as they were able, and even beyond their ability. Entirely on their own, they urgently pleaded with us for the privilege of sharing in this service to the saints.” (NIV)

Malachi 3:10  –  “‘Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,’ says the LORD Almighty, ‘and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.’”    (NIV)
